First Round of Local Junior Air Rifle Competition Completed

On Saturday, Jan. 16, in Alliance, Shelby and Ashley Carr, daughters of Josh and Kari Carr of Alliance competed in the first round of qualification for the American Legion 2021 Junior Air Rifle National Championship Tournament.

Shooters utilize a .177 caliber air rifle firing 20 record shots in 20 minutes from the prone position, 20 record shots in the standing position in 25 minutes and 20 record shots in 20 minutes in the kneeling position at targets 10 meters from the firing line.

This is the first year for Ashley and the third year for Shelby to compete in the Legion’s program. Shelby qualified to move on to the second round of the local qualifications to be held in late March or early April. She has been actively competing for eight years and is currently a member of the Guns R Us 4H Club.
