Gilbert L. Sullivan Obituary

Gilbert L. Sullivan, 74, passed away at his home on Monday, April 5, 2021 surrounded by his family.

He was born November 11, 1946 in Hanover, PA to Gilbert L., Sr. and Ruth (Ambrosius) Sullivan.

Gil joined the United States Navy in 1964 and served his country until 1970.  He married Donna Jones and to this union, three children were born, Shannon, Amy and Lannie.  Gil worked on the Rock Island Railroad before moving to Nebraska to work on the Burlington Northern Railroad.  On August 28, 1987, he married Marcia M. McCune, making their home in Hemingford.

Gil never met a stranger because of his big heart and would do anything for his friends and family.  His final gift was donating his body to science so that he could continue to help others after he was gone.

Gil is survived by his wife, Marcia; his children, Shannon Sullivan, Amy (Mike) Miller, Lannie (Jamie) Sullivan, Heather (Fred) Ash and Nathan (Hidie) McCune; grandchildren, Nathaniel Sullivan, Damian, Chandler, Reese and Ashten Miller, Lawson and Lydia Sullivan, Trevor (Brittany) Benge, Tanner (Ashley) Benge, Kamryn Ash and Madison and Gabe Bland; great-grandchildren, Quinton Benge and Asher Randolph.  He is also survived by his brother, George (Nita) Sullivan; his sisters, Norma (Chuck) Womack and Lois Jean Simmons; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law, Jim Simmons, and his granddaughter, Emma McCune.

As per Gil’s wishes, no services will be held.  There will be a family memorial service held at a later date.
