Morrill was the host on Friday for the Junior High Pan Handle Conference track meet with nine schools taking the track. St. Agnes continued their winning ways by ending first in the girl’s team race with 139 points. It mark the fourth year in a row the Lady Crusaders came home with the title. Hemingford was second with 120 points while finishing third with 56 tallies was Hyannis. The Hemingford boys repeated as champs as well, taking the team race with 147 points with the Academy second with 82 points. Ending third in the boy’s division was Cody-Kilgore with 79.
St. Agnes’ girls team again was lead by the one-two punch of Alexis Shelmadine and Penn Vergil. Shelmadine went four for four in winning first in the pole vault, triple jump, 200, and the 100 hurdles. Her leap of 33’0 in the triple was a new school record while her mark of 9’10 in the vault broke her old record. Vergil won the 400, long jump, and high jump and took second in the 200. St. Agnes also got a gold medal from Quinn Robertson in the 100 and their 400 relay was also victorious. Members: Robertson Grace Shrewsbury, Kale Hulquist, and Aubrey Dudden.
On the boy’s side, the Crusaders won 2 events. Tee Johnson was first in the mile with a personal best time of 5:58. The Academy received a first place effort in the 400 relay with a time of 52.8. Running the race for the Crusaders were: Ashton Weingart, Liam Pena, Mason Conyers, and Enzo Kappius.
