Knights Turn out the Lights on Seniors 13 to 4

Game 2 of the Alliance Senior baseball team’s trip east was a rough one. The Spartans were defeated by the ETC Knights 13 to 4 in a game played Thursday in Elkhorn. With the loss, the Peltz Co now sees their record drop to 9 and 3 for the season. Elkhorn tallied 5 runs in the second to pull away. Alliance had 8 hits on the evening, getting 2 each by Cody Galles and Jaxson Esparza. Pitching for the Seniors were starter Tony Escamilla and reliever Lexton Salcido.

Action began with the Spartans scoring the first 2 runs of the contest. Jaxon Poss had a first inning double and came across home after an RBI groundout by Escamilla. In the top of the second, the Spartans would score again thanks to hits by Esparza and Creighton Fritzler and a wild pitch. Down to 2 to 0, the hosts responded with 5 tallies to take the lead. Five walks by the Knights plus a 2 run double made the score 5 to 2 after 2 innings of play

Espen Lanik would get a hit for the Peltz Co in the third but was stranded. The Knights went down in order in the bottom of the third. Things would get worse for the Spartans in the fourth. Alliance went scoreless while the Knights scored three more. Another 2 run double made the scorebook read Elkhorn 8 Alliance 2. Both clubs scored one tally in the fifth. The Spartans got a double by Galles and an RBI single by Kobe Strom. Heading to the final frame, the Peltz Co trailed 9 to 3.

Knocks by Esparza and Galles sliced the Alliance deficit to 9 to 4 in the top of the sixth but 4 more Knight scores ended the game. Final ETC 13 Spartans 4
