Moses P. Dawn, 86, died Thursday, September 14, 2023 at his home in Alliance.
He was born September 13, 1937 in Pine Ridge, South Dakota to Ellis and Katherine (Crow) Crooked Eyes.
He married Henrietta Picket Pin in 1955 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Alliance.
Moses worked as a farm laborer for many years before working for both the City of Alliance and Box Butte County. He retired in 1993. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
He is survived by his children, Schuyler (Shirley) Dawn of Alliance, Lela Schmidt of Lincoln, Jerry Dawn of Alliance, Gerald Dawn of Alliance and Sharla Dawn of Lincoln. He is also survived by his sister, Marilyn Crooked Eyes of Porcupine, South Dakota; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 3 daughters, 2 half-brothers, 1 half-sister and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Indian Mission-Church of God. Sister Linda Abold will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Wake services will begin at the church on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.
