Junior Miguel Galvan threw a no hitter in a Spartan win 4 to 0 on Saturday. Alliance shut out the Laramie Rangers in day 2 of the Fort Morgan tournament. Galvan went all 7 innings and struck out 6. The Peltz Co finished with 2 hits with Tanner Salcido and Jay Shelmadine ending with one each.
Action started with both squads going down in order in the first. Alliance got in the scorebook in the second. Salcido reached on an error and advanced after a walk to Carson Stull. Pinch running for Salcido, Dixon Bair stole home for the Junior’s first tally. Galvan had a strike out in the home half as the Rangers failed to score. After 2, the Peltz Co was up 1 to 0.
Four straight scoreless frames then ensued. Alliance got a third inning hit by Shelmadine and a 4th frame knock by Salcido but both were stranded. Galvan had a k in the bottom of the third and another strike out in the fourth as Laramie remained scoreless. Inning #5 the song remained the same – no runs for either side and more strike outs by Galvan. Both clubs went 1-2-3 in the sixth and the contest went to the final inning with the Spartans holding on to a 1 to 0 margin.
Without a hit, the Juniors plated three in their final at bat. Walks to Fletcher Moseman, Jace Jensen, and Israel Garcia, loaded the bases for Bair who also walk. Up 2, the Peltz Co also got an RBI walk by Teagan O’Gorman. The scoring ending when Galvan reached on an error by the Rangers, making it 4 to 0. Galvan ended the no hitter in the bottom of the home half with another strikeout and the W 4 to 0.
