Four runs in their final at bat carried the Cheyenne Hawks past the Alliance Juniors 10 to 9 in action on Friday. Alliance was ahead by 3 going into the sixth before the big comeback by Post 6. The highlight for the Spartans came in the fourth on a solo homer by Jace Jensen. Three Juniors took the mound -starter Miguel Galvan and relievers Carson Stull and Teagan O’Gorman. The Peltz Co ended with 13 hits with Jensen leading the way with 3. Torrington is hosting the games.
Alliance hit first and found success. The Spartans scored twice on hits by O’Gorman, Jensen, and Casyn Rodriguez. Cheyenne countered with 3 in the home half. A hit by Stull in the top of the second gave the Peltz a chance but he failed to score. Two more tallies by the Hawks in the bottom of the inning put the Junior’s deficit at 3. After two innings of action, the Spartans trailed 5 to 2.
Inning three was a super one for Alliance. The Spartans scored three while the Hawks went scoreless. In the top, knocks by Galvan, Logan Freiberger, and Jackson Devlin knotted the contest at 5. Jensen then untied the affair in the fourth with a home run. Cheyenne scored once in the bottom of the frame and the game went to the fifth tied at 6.
Alliance surged ahead in the fifth with 3 runs. Freiberger started the rally by reaching after a hit by pitch. Next up was Stull who singled . An RBI double by Devlin then gave the Peltz Co a one run lead. The advantage went to three after a 2 run hit by Israel Garcia. Cheyenne went down quietly in the bottom of the frame. Alliance would get sixth inning knocks by Galvan and Jensen but both were stranded. Timely hitting and a few errors by the Spartans led to the Hawk’s comeback. Overall, Post 6 scored 4 times and recorded the win 10 to 9.
