Rita Fe (Gonzalez) Alvarado, 84, passed away February 14, 2023 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance, NE.
She was born October 27, 1938 at St. Joseph Hospital in Alliance, NE to Fernando and Patrocina (Vargas) Gonzalez. She attended Alliance Public Schools. On January 26, 1957 she was united in marriage to Mike Alvarado, also of Alliance. From this union 4 children were born.
Rita was a wonderful cook with Mexican food being her specialty. Her family came first and she loved her pets. She enjoyed her music and loved to sing with her brothers’ band. She worked at Woolrich and Rainbow Lodge. The Morrill’s considered her part of the family. She never knew a stranger and greeted them with her beautiful smile.
Rita is survived by her husband, Mike of 66 years, her daughters, Patty (Daryl) Colwell and Jerri Brost of Alliance, her daughters-in-law, Sherri Alvarado and Desi Alvarado of Alliance, 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Linda (Gary) Osborn of Alliance and Roger Gonzalez of Valdosta, GA, and her sisters-in-law, Cecelia Gonzalez and Renita Gonzalez of Alliance and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, Mike and Billy, her son-in-law, Casey Brost, her parents, her husband’s parents, Fred and Sara Alvarado and her brothers, Ed, Dick, Mick and Ralph Gonzalez.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Matt Koperski officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the church with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m.
Memorials may be given to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or Box Butte General Hospital Foundation.
