SPD Responds to Crash

On Wednesday, December 6, at 5:52 p.m., Scottsbluff Police responded to a traffic crash at the intersection of Hwy 26 and 5TH Ave.

Investigation revealed that a red 2003 Infiniti G35 driven by Johnathan Dykes, age 44 of Douglas, Wyoming, was west bound making a left turn to go south on 5TH Ave. At the same time a silver 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Marco Martinez-Hernandez, age 29 of Terrytown, was east bound on Hwy 26 at 5TH Ave. The Chevrolet crashed into the side of the Infiniti as the Infiniti turned.

A passenger in the Chevrolet was identified as Mario Martinez-Cano, age 29 of Terrytown. Both occupants of the Chevrolet had to be extricated from the vehicle. The passenger did not have a seat belt on. Marco and Mario were transported to Regional West Medical Center by Valley Ambulance.

Dykes refused treatment at the scene. Valley Ambulance and Scottsbluff Fire Dept assisted at the scene. Citations are pending the completion of the investigation.
