The Scottsbluff Police Department has concluded the “Buckle Up. Every Trip, Every Time” enforcement action. This enforcement action took place between November 22nd thru November 26th 2023. During the effort, the Scottsbluff Police Department had the following enforcement actions;
Four speeding citations, one open container, seven Minor in Possession citations, five fugitives were apprehended, five felony arrests, one Driving Under the Influence-alcohol, and one seatbelt violation. A total of 42 citations were issued and a total of 65 contacts were made. Of other notable activity was; 3 no insurance, five no valid registration, two no operator’s license, one hit and run, two marijuana, six drug paraphernalia, one failure to yield, one traffic light violation, one no brake light, and one driving under suspension. Prior to the enforcement action the seat belt usage rate was 54.75%. After the enforcement grant period the usage rate was 55.5%.
Grant funding was made available from the Nebraska Department of Transportation-Highway Safety Office. This grant money was used to pay officers overtime for seat belt and other traffic enforcement efforts.
