A six run bottom of the first powered the Alliance Seniors past the Juniors 8 to 0 in legion baseball action on Tuesday. Leading the attack was Espen Lanik who had 2 of the Senior’s five hits. Lanik was also solid on the hill, pitching 3.1 frames and allowing just one hit. EJ Garcia went the last 1.2 innings and didn’t allow a hit. Creighton Fritzler and Carson Stull tossed for the Peltz Co Juniors. At the plate, Fritzler had the lone hit.
In the first, the Juniors failed to score while the Seniors plated six. Lanik singled and later scored after a double by Nason Thompson. The biggest knock of the frame came off the bat of Jaxon Poss whose double with the bases loaded made it a 6 to 0 contest. Fritzler singled in the top of the second but a double play turned by the Peltz Co Seniors kept the shutout in tack. In the bottom of the second, a double by Senior Carver Nemnich kept the pressure on the Juniors. Nemnich was left on the bases and the ball game went to the third with the Seniors up 6 to 0.
No runs were tallied in the third. The Juniors turned a double play to stay close. In inning #4, a twin killing by the Peltz Co Seniors had the Spartans maintain their margin. The Seniors scored twice in the home half to increase their advantage. A walk, a double from Lanik, and an error resulted in 2 more runs.
