Alliance traveled to Ogallala on Tuesday for games against Adams Insurance and Bank and Trust. In the first matchup, the Juniors outlasted the hosts 5 to 4. Pitchers Tanner Salcido and Fletcher Moseman combined for 6 strikeouts in helping the Spartans get their 30th win for the year. Salcido tossed into the sixth with Moseman getting the save. Alliance scored 2 runs in the sixth then held off a late rally by OG. The Peltz Co had 4 hits on the night with Miguel Galvan leading the way with 2.
An RBI knock by Galvan in the top of the first gave the Juniors a one run lead. Galvan plated Jackson Shelmadine who drew a walk. In the home half, Salcido had a 1-2-3 frame with one K. Frames two and three were scoreless with Salcido recording 2 more strikeouts. Heading to the third, the Peltz Co was ahead 1 to 0.
Both clubs scored in frame four. Salcido had a knock and crossed after a sac bunt by Logan Freiberger. Down 2, Adams Insurance pushed two across in the bottom of the frame to tie the battle at 2. Alliance came back in the fifth to retake the lead thanks to another good swing by Galvan. Ogallala went quietly in their at bat in the 5th.
Action heated up in the sixth. The Juniors scored twice to go up by 3. Three errors by the hosts plus an rbi hit by Israel Garcia made it 5 to 2. Adams put one in the scoring column in the last of the inning to get within two. Alliance didn’t score in the top of the seventh as OG kept within striking distance. Adams plated one in their last attempt but the Spartans were able end the rally and the ball game. Final. Alliance 5 Ogallala 4
