Game 2 of a doubleheader between the Alliance Prep team and the Prep squad from Gordon featured a rare no hitter. Alliance pitcher Casyn Nelson no hit the hosts in the five inning affair. The Spartans won the game 9 to 0 with Nelson recording 8 strikeouts.
Alliance also won the opener , downing Security First 10 to 1. It was the Peltz Co’s fourth victory on the season. Two Spartans-Drayden Konopnicki and Jackson Devlin- had 2 hits each to lead the offense. Overall, the Preps finished the contest with 10 hits.
Alliance got one score in the top of the first. Devlin drew a walk and scored after an error by Gordon and a passed ball. One k by Nelson kept the hosts off the board in the bottom of the inning. The Spartans scored another run in the second with knocks by Konopnicki, Sonny Hernandez, and Cisco Cody. Nelson had a strikeout in the second as the hosts failed to score.
Two third inning tallies then gave the Spartans a 4 to 0 advantage. A 2 RBI hit by Konopnicki was the key play in the inning. Devlin also singled in the frame. Two walks by the hosts in the third gave Security First hope in the bottom of the third. Nelson answered the call with another strikeout as Gordon failed to score in the frame.
The Peltz Co added to their margin with a 2 spot in the fourth with the Spartans getting RBI hits from Devlin and Nelson. Up 6 to 0, Nelson had another scoreless frame in the fourth. He had 2 k’s in the inning. The contest ended in the fifth. Alliance tallied 3 more runs to go up by 9. Hits by Carson Stroud, Esai Trejo, and Ryan Walker along with a passed ball by Gordon made the board read Alliance 9 Gordon 0. Nelson would strike out the side in the bottom of the inning to preserve the shutout and no hitter. Final. Peltz Co 9. Security First 0
