Mitchell High School hosted the Early Bird track meet on Saturday. Eleven teams competed. With 75 points, the Hemingford boy’s club ended the day in third place. Mitchell was first with 113 while Bridgeport took second with 88 points. Mitchell was also first in the girl’s division. The Lady Tigers tallied 102 points with Bridgeport second with 87. Hemingford scored 15 points on the girl’s side which was good for eighth. Schools taking part: Mitchell, Bridgeport, Hemingford, Kimball, Potter-Dix, Bayard, Niobrara County, Guernsey-Sunrise, Garden County, Crawford, and Morrill.
Top performers for the Bobcats were Austin Benda who won the mile and Keirith Yale who won the long jump. The Cats were also solid in the relay events. HHS placed first in the 400 relay and mile relay and took second in the 2 mile relay. For the Lady Cats, it was freshman Teagan Yale placing third in the long jump as their top placer.
