Espen Lanik pitched a complete contest in Alliance’s 8 to 0 win over Buckley 8 to 0 on Saturday. Lanik allowed just 3 hits and had 10 strikeouts in the Clair Conley tournament matchup. The game went 6 frames and was played in Alliance. Carver Nemnich had 2 of the Spartan’s 8 hits. The Peltz Co scored in each of the first four frames in posting the W.
Buckley went to bat first and was turned away. In the home half, the Seniors plated two. Lanik reached on a Bomber error and moved into scoring position after Jaxson Esparza drew a walk. Both runners crossed after a 2 run single by Nason Thompson. Two Ks by Lanik in the second kept the Peltz Co out in front. Alliance got one more in the bottom of the frame. A Nemnich knock was followed by an RBI double by Braeden Clarke . Heading to the third, the Spartans were ahead 3 to 0.
Lanik would strike out the side in the Bomber’s at bat in the third. The Peltz Co increased its margin in their third inning attempt. Good swings by Lanik and Esparza made it 4 to 0. Momentum stayed with the Seniors in the fourth. The Bombers went 1-2-3 while the Spartans scored three. Another hit by Nemnich began the spree. Jaxon Poss and Kegan Rodriguez both were hit by pitches to load the sacks. An RBI walk by Lanik ensued as the Peltz Co went up by 5. The scoring came to a close with a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by Esparza. Alliance led 7 to 0 heading to the fifth. Two more Ks by Lanik in the top of frame 5 maintained the shutout. The Spartans also went scoreless in the frame.
Inning #6 was the same with Lanik getting 2 more strikeouts as Buckley was kept off the scoreboard. Alliance ended the battle with one more run in the bottom of the inning. Doubles by Lexton Salcido and Rodriguez gave the Peltz Co the 8 to 0 win.
