Fort Morgan Takes Down Prep Squad 9 to 1

Sidney hosted a tournament on Saturday and Sunday, featuring the Alliance Prep club. In their first contest of the day, the Spartans ran into a buzz saw team from Fort Morgan. The club from Colorado defeated the Peltz Co preps 9 to 1 in a four inning affair. A 6 run second inning by Fort Morgan was too much to overcome. Braden Myers had 2 of the Spartans’ four hits. Pitching for the Alliance preps were starter Kylar Adams and relief hurler AJ Garcia.

Alliance batted first and failed to score. In the bottom of the opening frame, Colorado pushed 2 across the plate. Fort Morgan used a couple of hits, an error by the Spartans, and an RBI groundout to surge ahead 2 to 0. The Peltz Co came back in the second with hits by Myers and Cooper Galles but both runners were stranded on the base paths. Fort Morgan’s bats then came alive in the bottom of inning #2. The Colorado club had 5 hits in the inning to go up 8 to 0. In the third, the Spartans went down 1-2-3 while Fort Morgan added to their margin with another tally. Heading to the final frame, the Peltz Co was down 9 to 0. Knocks in last at bat by Carsen Bunnell and Myers helped Alliance score one but it wasn’t enough Final Fort Morgan 9 Alliance 1
