Junior High track teams from all across Nebraska converged in Gothenburg on Saturday for the state meet. Over 600 athletes took part. Scottsbluff won the boy’s team trophy with 44 points. West Point-Beemer was second with 36 points. Tying for third with 24 tallies was Battle Creek and Fremont. West Holt won the girl’s division with 50 points while taking second was Ogallala and Bishop Neumann who ended with 34 points each.
As the Hemingford Bobcats, four athletes took to the track. Top finisher was 8th grader Kamryn Haas who was 17th in the 100 hurdles. Her time of 16.9 was a personal best. The Cats had three who took part in the pole vault. Finishing 20th in the girl’s vault was Taya Hruby who cleared 8’0. She began the event making 7’6 then 8’0 before missing 8’6. Emerson Horstman also competed in the pole vault and missed the only the opening height of 7’6. For the Hemingford boys, Dallas Woltman participated in the pole vault and missed the opening height on 9’6.
