High Scoring Battle Goes to Seniors in 14 to 7 Win over Chadron

Seven tallies in their final 2 at bats powered the Alliance Seniors past Chadron 14 to 7 in a game played Friday in Rapid City. With the victory, the Spartans now see their record stand at 5 and 0 for the season. The game was part of the Veterans Classic tournament. Alliance used 5 runs in the sixth and 2 more in the seventh in getting the win. The Peltz Co was up 7 to 1 in the third before the PVC came back with 6 to tie the game. Jaxson Esparza was the offensive star for Alliance with 3 hits. The Spartans ended the game with 9 hits total. Miguel Galvan started the battle for Alliance and went 2 innings. Three relievers- Fletcher Moseman, Cody Galles, and Lexton Salcido- finished the game for the Spartans.

Alliance went to the plate first and had success. Five first inning tallies got the Peltz Co off to a great start. Free passes to Jaxon Poss and Braeden Clarke began the scoring. An error by the Platte Valley made the score 1 to 0 and a passed ball by Chadron gave the Spartans their second run. Esparza big day at the dish then started with a 2 RBI hit that made the score 4 to 0. Another mistake by Chadron closed out the Peltz Co scoring with Alliance ahead 5 to 0. The Platte Valley Companies got one tally in the bottom of the inning, using a walk, a single, and a sac fly.

Up 5 to 1 in the second, Alliance failed to score. Meanwhile, two strikeouts by Galvan kept Chadron out of the score column. Inning #3 had Alliance getting 2 more runs. A double by Esparza was followed by a walk to Spartan Creighton Fritzler. Both runners would eventually cross the plate on a Chadron wild pitch and an error by PVC. Chadron made things very interesting in the bottom of the inning with 6 runs. Six hits plus an error by Alliance knotted the game at 7 after three innings of action.

Play then slowed in innings four and five with both squads going scoreless. In the fifth, the Spartans got a hit by EJ Garcia but failed to score. The Peltz Co broke thru with 5 runs in the top of the sixth to take a nice margin. Errors by balls hit by Kobe Strom and Tony Escamilla set the stage for a big inning. An RBI hit by Carver Nemnich ensued as the Spartans took the lead at 9 to 7. Knocks by Esparza and Fritzler were next and put the Chadron deficit at 3. Kegan Nelson followed with a hit and a run scoring single by Garcia made the scoreboard read Alliance 11 Chadron 7. The spree ended with an RBI groundout by Poss and the Peltz Co up by 5. PVC failed to score in the bottom of the inning and the contest went to the final frame with the Spartans ahead 12 to 7.

Two insurance runs by Alliance in the top of the seventh made a Platte Valley Companies comeback difficult. A hit by Escamilla plus 4 walks produced 2 more tallies for Alliance. The game to a conclusion with Alliance turning a double play as the Peltz Co went on for the 14 to 7 win.
