The 2 day Gering baseball tournament continued on Sunday with another match up between the Peltz Co Blue Sox and the Midwest Sluggers. Four runs in their last at bat gave the Sluggers a 12 to 11 win. Alliance was up 10 to 5 before Midwest scored 7 times in last 2 innings in getting the victory. Two hits each by Alliance’s Bodee Barber and Eugenio Lopez led the Sox O. Pitching for the Peltz Co were starter Slade Harris, Levi Escamilla, and Marshall Moseman.
Alliance went to the plate and received a knock by Moseman but no runs. The Sluggers scored twice in the bottom of the first to garner the early lead. Alliance came back strong in the second with 3 tallies. Hits by Zeke Dean and Lopez gave the Sox a 3 to 2 advantage. Back came the Sluggers as Midwest pushed 3 across and the contest went to the third with the Blue Sox trailing 5 to 3.
Action was slow in inning three with no runs scored. Escamilla had a hit for Alliance in the top of third. He was stranded on the paths. The Sox came to life in the fourth with 7 big runs. Six hits helped Alliance retake the lead at 10 to 5. Knocks from Barber, Canton Devlin, Lopez, Harris, Cameron Walker, and Kade Kelley put the Slugger deficit at 5. A pair of double by Midwest in the bottom of the fourth pulled the Sluggers to within 2 heading to the fifth.
In their final attempt, the Peltz Co scored once on an rbi double by Barber. Westco though would not be denied. Down 11 to 8, the Sluggers used three big singles then a walk off double in getting the win 12 to 11.
