Sox Drop Opener of Gering Tournament

On Saturday, the Peltz Co Blue Sox hit the road to Gering for a two day tourney. Midwest Sluggers were their opponent in the first contest. Alliance put up quite a battle but a three run final inning by Midwest was the difference as the Sox fell 13 to 12. The Sox put 6 tallies in the book in the top of the fifth but a big double by Midwest in the bottom of the frame gave the Sluggers the victory. Marshall Moseman led the Alliance offense with 2 of the Sox’s seven hits. Pitching for the Peltz Co were: Levi Escamilla, Zeke Dean, and Eugenio Lopez.

Alliance hit first and scored 3 times. A Moseman hit and a couple of Slugger errors made it 3 to 0. Midwest scored one run in the home half. Alliance added to their lead with a run in the top of the second. Von Krejci was hit by a pitch and eventually stole home to make it 4 to 1. In the bottom of the inning, the Sluggers scored twice and the affair went to the third with the Blue Sox up 4 to 3.

Inning #3 was a rough one for the Peltz Co. Alliance didn’t score in their at bat while the Sluggers surged ahead with 3 runs. Back came the Sox in the fourth. The Peltz Co got walks from Bodee Barber and Moseman to start the rally. An rbi groundout by Canton Devlin made it a 6 to 5 ball game. The affair was that tied at 6 as Alliance got an rbi hit by Dean. In the home half, the Sluggers stormed back with 4 runs. Heading to the final inning, the Sox were down 10 to 6.

Five Sox knocks in the top of the fifth helped the Peltz Co retake the lead. Big hits by Parks Sylvester, Cameron Walker, and Slade Harris were the spark. Tied at 10, hits by Moseman and Devlin made it 12 to 10. Midwest came back with 3 tallies in the home half to get the walk off win.
