Ogallala hosted a contest featuring the Spartan Seniors and Imperial on Tuesday. Alliance used a monster third inning in downing Post 304
12 to 5. With the victory, the Peltz Co goes to 34 and 11 on the season. The Seniors broke open a close matchup with 9 runs in the third in getting the W. Espen Lanik was the starter. Also tossing were: Kegan Rodriguez, Lexton Salcido, and Tony Escamilla. At the plate, the Spartans ended with 11 hits. Four Seniors- Mike Johnson, Salcido, Escamilla, and Lanik- finished with 2 knocks apiece.
Imperial came to the dish first and plated one with Lanik recording three strikeouts. Alliance failed to score in their first frame at bat. Inning #2 was a scoreless one for both squads. Post 304 added to their advantage with a score in the top of the third. Down 2, the Peltz Co came to life in the home half of the third. Walks to EJ Garcia, Lanik, and Jaxson Esparza got the Seniors off to a promising start. A wild pitch accounted for tally one while an RBI hit by Nason Thompson tied the game at 2. Escamilla then clear the sacks with a 3 run double that gave the Spartans the lead at 5 to 2. Singles by Rodriguez and Salcido ensued as the Peltz Co margin went to 5. Successful swings by Johnson, Lanik, and Esparza closed the frame with Alliance up 9 to 2.
Alliance would turn a double play in the top of the fourth in keeping their advantage. In the bottom of the frame, the Seniors received a hit by Escamilla but no scores. Both teams failed to get into the score column in the 5th with Lanik singling for the Spartans. Post 304 again went down silently in the top of the sixth while the Seniors added to their lead with 3 more tallies. A two run double by Salcido was followed by an RBI swing by Johnson as Alliance extended their advantage to 10. Imperial finished the affair with 3 scores in the top of the seventh.
